Jonathan Majors convicted in split verdict, dropped from Marvel

US actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of assaulting his then-girlfriend after a trial in New York.

The jury found Majors, known for playing Kang in the Marvel films, attacked British choreographer Grace Jabbari during an altercation in March.

Disney has dropped Jonathan Majors from future productions as the Marvel villain Kang, the studio said on Monday evening.

He was acquitted on another assault charge and one count of aggravated harassment.

The mixed verdict signals the jury believed Majors recklessly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, but did not intentionally do so.

During the trial, the jury saw and heard evidence that the March 2022 incident was not the first time Majors may have hurt Jabbari.

The six-person jury's verdict was announced on Monday following three days of deliberations.

A representative for Marvel declined to comment when reached by CNN.

"Mr Majors still has faith in the process and looks forward to fully clearing his name."
